For this project I was tasked with creating a cohesive poster series for an event.
To start this project i tried multiple methods of distortion of text with paint, paper, and fabric. These are the raw and edited images I decided to use. To create them, I placed a sheer fabric over printed type and captured an image with my phone. I then took them into Photoshop, inverted the image, and cleaned up any unwanted spots. I then added a different color to each image.
These are my first iterations. I created them in Adobe Indesign. During critique, I was told to experiment with smaller text, so I went back and reworked them.
This is my final poster series. I downsized my text substantially and found a better method of grouping for the text. For the title "Elusive Echos" I chose to overlay two low opacity text boxes to represent an echo. I chose to use fabric as my method of distortion for the background image because all of the artists in this showcase are musicians and the ripples in the fabric represent the movement of music.
